The selection of molding materials to a certain extent determines the quality of sheet molded plastic (SMC) products. Choosing appropriate raw materials can meet the special performance requirements of the products, and the molding process is also the top priority in manufacturing molded parts. Firstly, the raw material composition of SMC was introduced, including resin, initiator, low shrinkage additive, chemical thickener, internal release agent, colorant, and reinforcing material. The performance requirements of each component were also briefly introduced;
Secondly, the molding process of SMC was discussed in layers, including the type and structure of the production unit, the production process of SMC, the SMC molding equipment and process. For the problems existing in SMC products, this article drew on several foreign improvement measures, including surface paint bubbles, solvent suction, high density, environmental pollution, and the improvement of automotive component production lines; Finally, a brief discussion was given on the industrial application and recycling of SMC.
