What are the uses and characteristics of bakelite?

Jul 22, 2024

Bakelite is also called plywood and phenolic laminated paperboard. It is made of high-quality bleached wood paper and cotton linter paper as reinforcement, and is made of high-purity, fully synthetic petrochemical raw materials, and phenolic resin as resin adhesive.

1. Main features:

Good mechanical strength, anti-static, intermediate electrical insulation, made of insulating impregnated paper impregnated with phenolic resin, baked and hot pressed. This product is suitable for insulating structural parts in motors and electrical equipment with high mechanical performance requirements, and can be used in transformer oil. It has good mechanical strength and is suitable for PCB drilling pads, distribution boxes, jigs, mold splints, high and low voltage distribution boxes, packaging machines, combs, etc. It is suitable for motors, mechanical molds, PCBs, ICT jigs, molding machines, drilling machines, table grinding pads.

2. Application:

Bakelite has the characteristics of insulation, no static electricity, wear resistance and high temperature resistance. It is used as insulating switches and variable resistors for electronic products, molds for machinery and production jigs, and can be used in transformer oil. Bakelite is a man-made synthetic chemical. Once heated and formed, it cannot be molded into other things after solidification. Because it has the characteristics of non-absorbent, non-conductive, high temperature resistance and high strength, and is widely used in electrical products, it is called bakelite.
