The Difference Between GPO3 and UTR Insulation Sheets

GPO3 and UTR are both widely used unsaturated polyester fiberglass laminates in electrical insulation industry. They share similar mechanical structure, yet differ greatly in formula, performance, environmental protection and application scenarios.

First, in flame retardant system. GPO3 adopts traditional halogen-containing flame retardant formula. It meets standard V0 flame resistance, low cost and stable conventional insulation performance. However, it will produce toxic smoke and harmful gas when burning, which cannot meet strict environmental protection requirements. UTR is halogen-free low-smoke flame retardant material. It releases little toxic smoke during combustion, safer for enclosed space and human body, fully complying with EU and global green environmental protection standards.

Second, thermal resistance and electrical properties. GPO3 belongs to Class F heat resistance, stable under 155℃ long-term working temperature. It is suitable for ordinary low and medium voltage electrical equipment. UTR has higher continuous temperature resistance, better insulation stability at high temperature, stronger arc resistance and aging resistance. Its electrical performance remains reliable even under harsh high-temperature working conditions.

Third, machining performance. GPO3 is common industrial grade board, easy to cut but prone to dust scattering and tool sticking during high-speed precision processing. UTR features excellent machining adaptability, smooth cutting surface, less powder residue, wear-resistant and not easy to damage tools, very suitable for precision structural insulation parts.

Fourth, appearance and application fields. GPO3 is mostly red or white, cost-effective, used in switch cabinets, distribution boxes, ordinary electrical components. UTR is natural light yellow, high-end environmental grade, mainly applied to rail transit, new energy power equipment, medical devices, export products and high-end precision electrical appliances.

In conclusion, GPO3 is cost-effective conventional insulation material, while UTR is high-performance halogen-free upgraded version. Customers can choose according to flame retardant environmental requirements, working temperature and processing precision.
