The Harm of Insulating Barrier Discharge in High Voltage Switchgear

Apr 20, 2023

If there is a discharge phenomenon in the insulation partition, it indicates that there is a danger inside the high-voltage switchgear. Most of the discharge phenomena are subtle and difficult to observe, so it is possible that the staff may not pay attention to them when working on site. In severe cases, it may cause safety accidents to the staff, and the high-voltage switchgear may be damaged and the transmission system may be damaged after the staff leave.

This is the biggest danger. If the insulation partition is discharged and the staff fails to achieve an ideal insulation effect when installing the line, then under high voltage, if the distance is close enough, an electric shock accident can occur.

If the problem is not detected in a timely manner and the insulation partition is in a discharge state for a long time, a fire may occur due to the material properties of the insulation partition. Such an event exists. If a fire occurs, the high-voltage switchgear will be damaged, and the entire transmission system will stop operating. If it is in a large industrial power field, a power outage will directly affect a company's profits.
