What is the difference between UTR and GPO3?

Sep 30, 2025

UTR material is not a completely different material from GPO-3, but rather a specific grade within GPO-3. The main differences between them are as follows:

- Composition: GPO-3 is a broad material category consisting of alkali-free glass fiber mat impregnated with unsaturated polyester resin paste, added with appropriate additives, and then hot-pressed. As a grade of GPO-3, UTR may have specific adjustments to its composition, such as the resin formula or additives, to achieve properties such as halogen-free.

- Flame Retardancy Details: While several GPO-3 grades, such as Grade 1580 and UTR, achieve UL94 V-0 flame retardancy, UTR is halogen-free and produces significantly less smoke and toxic smoke in the event of a fire, offering advantages over other GPO-3 grades in terms of environmental friendliness and low toxicity.

- Processability: GPO-3 material generally exhibits excellent processability and can be processed using standard metalworking equipment, including stamping and drilling. The UTR grade is well-known for its ease of high-speed molding in machining centers, and may have advantages over other grades of GPO-3 in terms of machining efficiency and machining accuracy.
