What is Carbon Fiber Prepreg?

Jun 11, 2024

Carbon fiber prepreg is a composite material made of reinforcing materials (carbon fiber yarn, epoxy resin, release paper) through coating, hot pressing, cooling, laminating, winding and other processes. It is also called carbon fiber prepreg.

When making carbon fiber products, prepreg is needed as an intermediate material. Whether carbon fiber products can have excellent mechanical properties depends on whether the prepreg can play a connecting role.

Carbon fiber UD prepreg products include paper tubes, release paper or PE film, resin and fiber composites, and release paper.

As we all know, carbon fiber has high strength and low density. Its strength can reach 6 to 12 times that of steel, but its density is less than 1/4 of steel. Carbon fiber has both the softness and plasticity of textile fibers. It can make various products according to the shape of the mold. Moreover, it is not a metal material, corrosion-resistant and has a long service life.
