In our insulation material industry, there are many types of epoxy boards. Each epoxy board has unique properties and meets the requirements of different industries, such as G10, G11, 3240, FR-4.7628.2116.1080, etc. Since they are all insulation materials, what is the difference? First of all, let's focus on analyzing the difference between 3240 and FR-4.
You first need to know that the 3 in 3240 epoxy board represents laminated products, which are also said to be pressed from multiple layers of cloth. 2 represents inorganic substrate board, 4 represents its maximum operating temperature of 155 degrees, and its heat resistance grade belongs to Class B, and 0 represents the code of the product type. Therefore, the full name of 3240 epoxy board is epoxy laminated glass cloth board. It is widely used in the manufacture of electrical and mechanical insulation parts, with average performance, and belongs to domestic epoxy board.
The G in G10 is the abbreviation of glass fiber in English. The number 10 represents the content of glass fiber at 10%. G10 is synthesized from imported electronic-grade glass fiber cloth and imported epoxy resin, with high technology and superior performance. Flame retardant grade UL94-VO, can withstand high temperature of 180 degrees, can withstand high temperature of 288 degrees for a short time, has good mechanical properties at high temperature, has certain strength, acid and alkali resistance, waterproof and good insulation performance.
As a common electrical insulation part manufacturing, the use of 3240 epoxy board can basically meet the common electrical insulators in life. G10 epoxy board meets certain requirements for insulation performance, electrical equipment with higher temperature resistance, etc. Obviously, the performance of G10 epoxy board exceeds that of 3240 epoxy board.
So how to distinguish between FR-4 epoxy board and CEM-1 insulation board?
From the price point of view, FR-4 is undoubtedly the most expensive, and it is basically yellow, but there are also white, black and other colors.
From the surface, we can hardly tell the difference between the two, but from the fault, the cross section of FR-4 epoxy board has gray-white glass fiber cloth in the middle, while the cross section of CEM-1 is white resin in the middle. The two are distinguishable, just like cement board and reinforced cement board. At the same time, the toughness of FR-4 epoxy board is much better than that of CEM-1 insulation board, and its heat dissipation performance is also the best.
